It fills me with sadness to close the forum until further notice but it has to be done.

You may well have noticed a few changes too, necessary I’m afraid.

So, at the moment I shall continue to invest in the forum’s future, maybe post news and a few bits and bobs, an announcement or two and so on but the forum is closed for posting until further notice.

It lasted just over half an hour and was LOUD and visually stunning with acrobats, choirs and big screen videos.
Usually its hard to get a good view at big events like this, but there were no such problems here as most of the action took place high up on the buildings surrounding the Hall.

This makes me think, “If you can’t spell opportunity, what chance have you got of getting through the interview”. But I suppose it depends on the type of job.

Also, putting it in to Google you get loads of hits, not only with job seekers spelling it incorrectly but also job ads that are wrong.

But the telling statistic is that there are 840 results for oppertunity and 194,000 for opportunity. So the “bad spellers” are missing out.

I’d love to know why people search for this phrase. Is it a dating thing? Is it an ex pats thing? Why don’t people just type “Liverpudlians” or “Scousers” or perhaps that’s the answer they are looking for. i.e. what are “people from liverpool england” called.

At the time of writing Google returns wikipedia as the no 1 result for this search which has some fairly standard info on Liverpool and for no 2 result a dating website. Also in the top ten are the usual tourist websites, something about slavery and a funny Yahoo Answers question from someone who wants to know if the address

Another weird result was about a study comparing groups of people with schizophrenia from Liverpool with a similar group in Bangalore, India. Patients from Liverpool compared to Bangalore, comprised of more men, of younger age group, fewer patients ever-married, more patients living alone and more patients unemployed.
